Parish Survey

In 2015 the Parish Pastoral Council conducted a survey and coordinated listening sessions to solicit parishioner feedback regarding various aspects of our parish life.  With the results of the survey and listening sessions in hand, the Parish Pastoral Council met with staff and representatives of the various areas of ministry to review our parish input.  Some areas that have been addressed from your feedback include additional adult faith formation opportunities.  Service and education programs have been enhanced to include areas such as mental health awareness. More on the OLIH Survey Summary.

Agape Garden

Located on the grounds of the Faith Chapel at 7384 NW 16th St. in Ankeny, Agape Garden is one way our church partners with other local churches to provide fresh produce for area feeding ministries.  From spring planting through fall harvesting, a dedicated team of volunteers from the United Methodist church and several other partner churches, such as OLIH, plant, tend and harvest the vegetables and fruits, and then deliver them to various feeding ministries around the metro.

Each year, Agape Garden has grown in size, scope, and methods. In 2010, the garden received Honorable Mention from the World Prize for a community garden effort.  In 2015 the garden yielded and donated 21,969 pounds of produce! Area agencies and ministries receiving produce include Bethel Mission – Hope Ministries, DMARC Food Pantry (Ankeny Neveln Center), North Branch Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny Food Pantry, Trinity United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist congregation’s “Homeless Helps” meals.

For more information, contact our leadership team: Grace Wall (AHS Junior), Ryan Gross (AHS Junior), or Randy Henderson, Director of Youth Ministry for OLIH by emailing   Please volunteer by showing up at the garden Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6pm-dusk or Saturdays from 8:30-noon.
